Below is some of the family information that I have already entered. As I find more information I will update this page. (a) Britt Family; originated in Essex, Brittany (French spelling Bretagne). Their's was an ancient Celtic Kingdom northwest of France occupying the peninsula between the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay. the Celtics are a linguistic stock commonly the ancient Britons and Gauls. Now represented by the Briton, Irish, Highland Scots, Welsh, and the Cornish. They migrated to England during the period that William I, The Conquerer, invaded England about 1066-1100 A.D.. The Britt family surname came about when the King of England proclaimed that all citizens would adopt family names in the 12th century. The people of Brittany(Bretagne) adopted the family name of Britt, sometimes spelled Brett. The first Britt migrating to America sailed from Kent,England to Massachusetts in 1645 A.D. His name was William Britt and he was one of the original proprietors of Bridge Water, Mass. He had at least three sons; William, Elihu, and Nathaniel Senior. I am a decendant from Nathaniel who was born about 1660. (b) Lantz Family; Originated in the Palatinate or Walderhof, Baden area of Germany. It is believed that the severe persecution they received for their Mennonite beliefs was the cause for their migration to America. One Jacob Lantz founder of the Lantz Family of Albany twp, Berks Co.,Penn was born in Walderhof, Baden Germany. He sailed to America with his yonger brother Conrad, aboard the ship "Snow* They landed in Philadelphia Aug. 27, 1739. (c) Kaub Family; Originated in Germany. One Christian Kaub arrived in America in 1738. They changed their name to "Coup". (d) Bell Family; Originated in Dumfriesshire, located in the Border country of Scotland and England. They trace their ancestral roots to Boernican orgin. It is believe the family intermarried into the Cherokee Nation in the early 1800s. (e)Holton Family; Originated on the Isle of Wright, located in England. They trace their ancestral roots back to Ango-Saxon orgin. 3. • The Walker Family Tree (465 KB)
The Walker family tree contains the research for many branches. Such as The Lawsons, Borders,Livelys, Dials,Tuers,Haines,Tolberts, just to name a few. However the main focus of my research is on the Walkers, Borders, and the Lawsons. The Walker Family name originated in Yorkshire, located in England. The Walker Family traces their ancestral roots back to Anglo Saxon origin. They have a Coat of Arms as follows; A Shield is-Silver with a chevron between three blue crescents. The Crest is-A greyhound's head and their Family motto is-"Non Sine Periculo" As I've said the origin of Walker is only a fragment of the research completed for this Family. The research has continued on and will continue on to show the different branches as I have listed only a few above. More are being found and will be added to what I have called The Walker Family Tree, but it is far more than that. Any additions or correction are more than welcome.
