Notes for Henry Sylvestor Salyers: Henry owned two apartment buildings on California Street in Denver near downtown. My mother remembers that they lived in the basement apartment, saving the others that were considered better for tenants. He didn't like the landlord/tenant relationship and business so sold them after a while and moved back to Brighton.
He owned houses on 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th. Perhaps the one next to the church on 6th, just south of Bridge Street. He also owned two short order Restraunts. One in Brighton and the other in Fort Lupton. He moved to Fort Lupton and Ollie would go to see him during the week and he would come home on weekends. My mother remembers living in Fort Lupton for a time also. She stated that at one time Henry was very wealthy and owned one of if not the first car in Brighton. He never drove it, but his daughter Ethel talked him into letting her drive it. She took mom for a ride and when she turned to go onto the highway, (which she promised she would only go on country roads) she wrecked the car. Henry never fixed it or bought another.
Henry was a farmer and at one time had a partnership with Roy (his son) and Uncle Sandquist, one of his daughers husbands. The business was unsuccessful because the latter two were not good workers and knew nothing about farming.
