Notes for John I Evans: Another good story from Aunt Mary's cache. She said she is unsure about how true this one is. When John was born he was a big, healthy baby. His Mother produced big, healthy, beautiful babies with seemingly little trouble. Supposedly a member of the Hauke family, whose wife could not have children, offered Matilda Evans 1000.00 dollars for the baby John. Of course the offer was not accepted, but John would tell his Mother "You should have taken the money, I would have come back."
