Edward Clay Selby (son of James Selby) was born June 08, 1878 in Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee, and died June 17, 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas. He married Mary Williams on February 21, 1909 in Rockwall, Texas, daughter of Josiah D. Williams.

Includes NotesNotes for Edward Clay Selby:
Ed was buried in Rockwall Cemetary, which is now Rockwall Memorial Cemetary in the Moore family plot with David C Moore (born 1845 died 1921), and M Elizabeth Moore (born 1846 died 1932) Rockwall Cemetary index had at one time indicated on tombstone "Aunt". The index also indicated that M Elizabeth's tombstone used to be SSW of David Moore's tombstone. The tombstone looks as if it has been replaced with a newer one and both are on the same tombstone, M Elizabeth's appearing to still be SSW of David. I was told by a woman visiting the cemetary that several old tombstonss were stolen and sold at an antique auction, Also, this used to be a Methodist cemtary and the land was donated by the Moore Family. The name on the tombstones are published in the index under the name of the person purchasing the plot. Edward's name was not in the index. The Moore's must have purchased the plot for him. Census records of Jack County, Texas shows him as a general farmer in 1910. Ed rented the farm on April 13, 1910. Edward sent a postcard to his brother (David) dated November 29, 1914. The Postcard was written in Archer City, Texas and mail from Wichita Falls, Texas. It reads: How is everything. I guess you all are making lots of cotton this year or are you done pickiing. Answer soon. As ever your brother Ed Selby. Ed was a wanderer and a train jumper. He was discharged from John Petersmith Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas in February 23, 1956 for mild stroke, partially paralyzed, in good condition needs general care, food and rest. His doctor was Dr. Huffman.
