Notes for Jane Cooley: he following article was taken from "Tennessee Tidbits 1778-1914, Vol I": William Bolton died before January 2, 1843 when a settlement was made by James Brown and William T Bolton as administrators (Humphreys County, Tennessee, County Court Minutes #46. Jane Bolton was appointed guardian for Benjamin Bolton, Evan Bolton, Henry Bolton, Elizabeth J Bolton, and Charles Bolton, minor orphans. (Ibid 55) Jane Moon, formerly Jane Boulton, made a settlement as guardian of the heirs of William Boulton. (Ibid 148). The Humphreys County, Tennessee Federal Census, dated September 13, 1850, states that Jane Moon's Real Estate was valued at $500.00. Living in the household were: Lewis Moon, 53 yrs, Occupation Miller; Jane Moon, 37 yrs; Benjamin Bolton, 19 yrs, Farmer; Evan W Bolton, 17 yrs; Henry Bolton, 15 yrs; Elizabeth Bolton, 13 yrs; Nancy Bolton, 26 yrs (a note from Mable Fletcher Stout states that Nancy was the step-daughter of Jane Moon, and the half sister of the other Bolton children. 1850 Humphrey's County Tennesee Census lists Jane age 37 as married and living with Lewis Moore age 53 and her kids from a previous marriage from William Bolton.
