Matilda Lee (daughter of Stephen Eli Sr. Lee and Leanna Roley) was born Abt. 1835 in Clark County, Illinois, and died May 1893 in Lambert, Parker County, Texas. She married John Jones on December 23, 1853 in Collin County, Texas, son of Richard C Jones and FreeLove Wells.

The following in taken from the Lee Tree, page 4: Weatherford Weekly Republic, dated March 10, 1893, wrote " It is with regret I chronicle the death of Mrs John Jones who died of consumption after some six or eight months suffering of the severest type". Matilda had married John Jones in 1853 and was probably 58 yrs old at death. She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery outside of Weatherford, Texas. Her husband died in 1916 and was buried in the same cemetery. Unfortunately, inscribed markers apparently do not exist for Matilda or her husband. Many other Lee relatives are also buried in Greenwood Cemetery including Moses Lee, Edgar Jones and D.B. Chamberlain, Matilda's brother and two grandsons.
