Notes for Robert Griffin Fletcher: The following information furnished by Mable Fletcher Stout: The 1870 Federal Census (Page 248), for Marion Township, Perry County, Alabama, lists 17 year old Robert working as a laborer, and living with the Joseph Barnett family. Robert moved from Alabama to Mississippi in the early 1870's. The 1880 Federal Census for Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, lists 24 year old Robert G Fletcher as a boarder living with J.S. and Fannie Eastwood. Robert was a Mill hand. Living next door was 19 year old Clementine Berry. The following article was also furnished by Mable Fletcher Stout: Robert Griffin Fletcher and his family moved from Starkville, Mississippi to Wise County, Texas about 1891. They had a trunk full of confederate money which they kept from the Civil War. Clementine Berry's parents and grandparents were rich before the Civil War and had large homes "plantations" and up to 69 slaves and 17 to 20 at one time. It's not sure if the Fletchers had very much. Clementine told her children not to lose the confederate money, because it might be worth something some day. The money must have been lost while they traveled in covered wagons.
