William Anson Halbert (b. October 14, 1744, d. December 28, 1808)
William Anson Halbert (son of Joel Halbert and Elizabeth Frances Jones) was born October 14, 1744 in Henry County, Virginia, and died December 28, 1808 in Pendleton District, South Carolina.
Notes for William Anson Halbert: Served in the Revolutionary War as a Lieutenant in the Henry County, Virginia Militia. Served with Capt Henry Lee's Troop, 1st Regiment, Light Dragoons (The Compendium of American Genealogy, First Families in America, page 334). Member of the Provincial Congress from Surrey County, North Carolina in 1775 (The Compendium of American Genealogy, page 208). The following information was furnished by Eleonore J Crespo: William Halbert enlisted in the Partisan Legion for the war and was a citizen of Virginia at the time of his enlistment. In March 1780, he was appointed a Second Lieutenant. He was given 486 acres of land on Russell Creek for his services in the Revolutionary War.
