I am currently researching the Schaerer Family of Oneida County, NY. Rudolph Schaerer settle there approximately 1860. He immagrated from Switzerland. His father and other members of his family went to TN. He was joined in NY by his brother Albert and reportedly by a sister Catherine. Rudolph was born November 18, 1843 and died October 11, 1913. His father's name was Heinrich (Henry) Schaerer. One account is that they originated in Meiringer and later moved to Bern. From there the moved to the US. Agnes Schaerer of Kingston TN reported to me a number of years ago that Henry was married twice and had a total of 19 children.
