So far my research has led to the Shea's from Ireland. John Shea son of Thomas A. and Johanna Shea, born around 1867, came to the US in 1885 and Mary Agnes Carney (or Kearney) daughter of John and Bridget Kearney (or Carney?) born around 1865 came in 1880. They married in Spfld., Mass. on Nov 4, 1889 and had 13 children. John worked as a Hod Carrier/Mason's tender and Mary was a homemaker. They raised their children in West Spfld., Mass. Their children were: Bridget, Margaret, Catherine, Mary, Josephine, Thomas, John, Arthur, Paul, Ellen, Anna and 2 whose names I don't know. Mary Agnes Carney Shea passed away in West Springfield, Massachusetts on December 13, 1949.

Catherine was my grandmother. She married Christopher MacLeod who was from Websterville, Vermont. Christopher's mother's maiden name was MacDonald and he had somewhere between 7 and 10 brothers. The only brother whose name I am sure of is Norman and last known, which was 1959, he lived in Malibu Beach, California. Other possible brothers are Murdo and Raymond, this is unconfirmed. My Uncle, Donald, says the family immigrated from Scotland to Nova Scotia. I don't know much about Christopher except his family came from Isle of Skye, Scotland and he died on Christmas Eve in 1959. My grandparents had 3 children, Donald John, Margaret Joyce and William Allen. Catherine passed away March 14, 1977 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Margaret is my mother. She married Lawrence Stafford Phelps, born October 4, 1935. Lawrence's father was Harry S. Phelps and his mother was Lillian Hunter Phelps. Lillian was from Nebraska, that's where Lawrence was born.

Harry was born on July 1, 1901 in Heath Massachusetts to Silas Phelps and Eunice L. Stafford Phelps. Silas was from Hinsdale, New Hampshire and Eunice was from Russell, New York. Silas' father was Darius Phelps from Rowe, Massachusetts and he married Julia Whitcomb on March 28, 1862. Eunice's father was Emerson Stafford and he married Cynthia Backus.

Margaret Joyce MacLeod and Lawrence Stafford Phelps Jr. had six children: Lawrence Stafford Phelps, Jr., Cathy Anne, Christine Thomasina, Donna Lee, Patricia Marie and Teresa Marie. Margaret passed away in 1981 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Harry passed away in June, 1976 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Lawrence Stafford Phelps, Sr. is still alive and living in Agawam, Massachusetts.

I was Cathy and I married Joseph Bruce. Joseph's mother was Constance Meehan Bruce and his father was Joseph Bruce. Joseph's Grandfather was Walter Homer Bruce and he married Lois Iadella Mount. They had three children, Constance, Patricia and James. My husband was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Maryland.

Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated and I will certainly respond to any inquiries directed to me.
