James H. Rissmiller (son of Harley Peter Rissmiller and Elizabeth Salvina Echard) was born January 02, 1917 in Phillipsburg, N.J., and died May 12, 1992 in Phillipsburg, N.J.. He married Emma Van Eicken.

SIX SONS OF SINGLE PHILLIPSBURG FAMILY SERVED U.S. FORCES ABROAD

Mr. and Mrs. Harley Rissmiller of 318 Main St., have the distinction of having six sons in U.S. uniforms in foreign service. Sgt James Rissmiller has had the longest military record of the six brothers and Corporal Charles Rissmiller, 24, who had not seen each other in five years, met a few weeks ago for a happy reunion in Frankfort, Germany. James was in Korea for 18 months before going to Germany to serve with the occupation forces last june. He is now assigned to the 651st Trucking Battalion.

Cpl. Charles Rissmiller enlisted in 1951 and was assigned to Germany in November of that year with the 12th Infantry Regiment.

Sgt. James Rissmiller served with the Medical Corp. in Panama before joining the United Nations Forces in Korea. He returned to the United States in April, 1953, and again reenlisted and was sent to France.

Mr and Mrs. Rissmiller had five sons serving in World War II. Beside Sgt. James and Cpl. Charles they are Thomas, Harley Jr, and William in Germany; Robert in Japan.

As far as can be learned this is the highest number from a single family to leave the local community for foreign service.
