I am just starting to trace my father's side of my family. My father, Donald Arthur Chickering died in 1988 in Walla Walla, Wash.. He was born in Palouse, Washington on Dec. 25,1922 and was said to have ruined everyone's holiday dinner. I know his father's name was Daniel James Chickering. He is buried in the US Veterans Cemetery in Los Angles, California ( He died during WWII in Southern California, on Jan. 14,1943 & was a volunteer fireman, lumberjack, among other things) My father's mother's name was Anna Marie Huard Chickering (She was born in Minneapolis, Minn. in March 1894. She died June 12, 1933 in Clackamas County, Oregon.). I believe that they were married in Minn, Washington state or Oregon around 1910-1918. My father had an older brother Williams James Chickering.(Born Mar. 15, 1921 in San Francisco, Calif. & died Dec. 24,1974 in Everret, Washington.) My great-grandfather's (on my grandmother's sidename was William Huard; he came from the Chicago area and lived along the Columbia river(the Dells & Hood River area)in Oregon until he died around 1962. He had three daughters; my grandmother Anna Marie,Blanche and Della(Augie Caroso). He also had at least two wives, both named Anna. My grandmother's mother died giving her birth.Great Aunt Della had two daughters, Joanie & Mary Lois. Aunt Blanche was a nun until she left the nunhood to marry. I don't think she had any children & I don't remember her married name.That is about all I know of my father's family. My father rarely spoke of his family. I knew my great-grandfather, Aunt Della, & Mary Lois & Joanie & their families when I was young & we lived in Oregon but I, myself, lost touch as I became an adult and started raising my own family.
My Father married my Mother, Doris C. Fairchild on May 4, 1946 in Yakima, Washington. My brother (Dana Marion Chickering) was born April 18,1949 in Portland, Oregon. I (Diana Marie Chickering) was born Dec. 13,1950 in Eugene, Oregon.
I know that my grandfather,Daniel Chickering,was born in Wisconsin and had two sisters: Minnie(Maud)& Bernice and his father died prior to 1900. His mother (Magaret Thatcher Chickering)moved to Sandpoint,Idaho prior to 1910 & remarried.(Parrie)One of Daniel's sisters (Bernice) married into the Lane family and my father had four Lane cousins- Bernice,Ed,Truman,& Stella(?). Bernice married Joe Brisboy of Sandpoint, Idaho.
That's about all I can think of.
I think that one of the Brisboys is also trying to trace the Chickering Roots.
