Having started researching the Brydon line I am descended from in late May 2002 I believe that I have managed to date (August 2002) to trace my ancestry to John Brydon (b.1695) who married Isobel Watherston. To complete the family tree puzzle at the outset I am researching the families of my grandaprents; Paternal grandfather - Brydon Paternal grandmother - Wawn Maternal grandfather - Hore Maternal grandmother - Shaw all of who came from the British Isles. As far as I have been able to ascertain living descendants of the above families can be found in the following countries; Brydon - England, Canada, Australia and Brazil (the writer) Wawn - England, Australia Hore - Ireland, England, Canada Shaw - England, Argentina,USA and maybe Australia. from whom I would be interested in hearing from if they could help providing pieces to complete the fascinating family puzzle
On my Brydon side I would be interested in hearing from anyone with the surname Adamson, Blair, Dempster, Hunting, Livingstone, Marshall, Palfrey, Purvis, Taylor and Watherston who might have married a Brydon in their family tree. I might add that I have a a "drop-line "chart of the Dempsters of Wester Tullyochie going back to 1588 and have obtained a surprising amount on the Taylors - An Isabella Taylor married my great great grandfather Walter Brydon.
I am also trying to see if there might be a family connection with Dr William Brydon, the subject of an oil painting painted by Lady Elizabeth Butler " The Remnants of an Army" showing the good surgeon drapped over a pony arriving in Jalalabad during the Afghan war of 1839-42 - a topical subject. Over the years I have been told that there was a family connection (I have not found a Brydon that has) with the good doctor and Lady Elizabeth Butler (on my maternal grandmother}s side of the family which I have managed to confirm).
Once you get started you cannot stop and it is amazing how many kind people I have already been fortunate to exchange e-mail messages with within a short time frame.
