Thomas Burris Embree (son of Joseph Embree and Mildred Burris) was born 1774 in Orange County, Virginia, and died Sep 1845 in Middle Grove, Monroe, Missouri. He married Elizabeth Duncan on 24 Aug 1796 in Clark County, Kentucky, daughter of Joseph Duncan and Nancy Stevens.

1. Fought in the War of 1812.
2. 13 Jan 1804. Clark co., KY Deed Book 7:16. Thomas Embree and Elizabeth
paid 136 pounds and 16 shillings to Shasten Walkins for 114 acres on 4-
mile Creek.
26 Jan 1807. Clark co., KY Deed Book--- Thomas Embree and his wife,
Elizabeth, paid 100 pounds to Joseph Embree for 100 acres on 4-mile
Creek that had been patented by John Stevens.
3. Moved from Clark county, KY to Howard county, MO (Old Franklin) in 1820
and settled on a farm near Fayette, MO.
4. Went to Monroe county, MO in 1836; settled in the Middle Grove area of
Union township.
5. Will was probated in the fall of 1845.

edited by H. W. Marshall. 1976. Published by the Randolph County
Historical Society, Moberly, MO.
"(Thomas) Burr(i)S Embree by C. B. Embree, December 10, 1968.
"It has been definitely ascertained that somewhere around 1740
three brothers left France, spending two years in England. They set
out for North America. Two settled in Ohio and Kentucky and there is
no record of the third brother.
In 1820, Burrus Embree, a descendant of the Kentucky family,
emigrated to Missouri by wagon train with his wife a Miss Duncan,
eleven sons and three daughters. They settled in Howard county, near
Fayette. These children scattered to the Burton area, the Clark area,
the Madison area, and to Pettis County. One brother went to the
Territory of Oregon in 1854, becoming active and popular in the
territorial government and a state senator.
The youngest son, Milton Jackson (Apple Jack) Embree, grandfather
of C. B. Embree, on the death of his father, bought the interest of all
remaining heirs to the family homestead, established in Monroe County,
five miles north of Middle Grove. The five sons and three daughters
are: Anzine, Sirene, Talenus, Philetus (father of C. B. Embree),
Eucebius, Eurena, (twins), Eugene, Milton Jackson, Jr. The three
daughters settled in Saline County marrying into the Page, Ayers, and
Brockman families. Many descendants are still living near Gillum and
Slater."
7. According to information in Ancestral File (LDS) Thomas Burris Embree
(AFN:FKN5-K9) was married twice; his second wife was Elizabeth "Betsy"
Duncan. The name of his first wife is unknown but she and Thomas may
have had four children: --the first, unknown name and sex, was born
about 1780.
--Allen was born about 1781.
--Isham was born about 1783.
--Dorothy was born 6 Jan 1793 in Clark county, KY. She married William
Sublett Day (b abt 1789 at Charlotte, VA) and their descendents are
given on the descendants chart in Ancestral File. Dorothy's AFN is
FKN2-WL.
Names of the three additional children found in AF are Burwell, b 1810,
Frances, b 1814 and Rosa Moss, b 1816. These names really do not fit
the Thomas Burris Embree family that appear most commonly in the
literature.
8. Have seen his marriage date also given as 24 Aug 1796.
9. The names of three additional children found in the LDS Ancestral File
are: Burwell, born 1810; Frances, born 1814 and Rosa Moss, born 1816.
