 Includes NotesNotes for William Robe:
[v12t3332.ftw]

The first Robes we know of, William & Sarah Robe, were of Scotch decent. He was educated for a Presbyterian minister but in consequence of an impediment of speech, he never preached. However, he was a ruling elder in the Morgantown church. He lived many years in Morgantown, W VA
where he raised his family. In his old days, he was very deaf. It is said that he would go up on the pulpit and stand close to the preacher so he could hear. He lived to be 84 years old. He was found dead with a nail drove into his temple (look in Judges 4:21, which is: Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent , and took a hammer in her hand , and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary: So he died. He died
about 1802. His wife died a year later in about 1803. It is believed they had 7 children.

MARGARET NOTES 12 FEB 2003 DISCREPANCY APPARENTLY PREVENTING SON WM ROBB AND
WIFE SARAH MENTIONED IN 1 APR 1746 CHESTER CO PA probate for a Wm Robb late of
londongrove township, Chester co PA (from being paternal grandparents of our
Josiah robe born 1767/8-------i.e. any woman of that culture already married
(will which was probated 1746 was written Dec 1744)
1744 would possibly be too old to have kids in 1767/8, and further discrepancy
that apparently Wm and Sarah of Monongalia co va in 1760's didn't have known
kids much before 1760--a discrepancy with being already married 1744!!;
THERE ARE POSSIBLY SOME WAYS IN WHICH THAT PROBATE MAY BE FOR OUR ROBE ANCESTRY
AFTER ALL, but less likely that I at first thought. Certainly the Sarah Dru in
law of the son Wm Robb in 1744 who was appointed co-executor in Dec 1744 is
extremely unlikely to have born a son Josiah Robe in 1767-1768, as the Mrs
Sarah robe of Monongalia co VA did, she would be born no earlier than about
1727 in order to have born a son 1767-1768 in colonial southern colonies in
those days. And if only age 17 in 1744, why was she appointed a teenage
executrix of her father in law's estate? But son William could have had more
than one wife both named Sarah. However we concoct complicated schemes to
retain a definite father and son relationship with the 1746 Chester co PA
probate record--which is a sign we have a gap in our evidence probably;
