BIOGRAPHY: Cooper (barrel maker). Simon is found in the records of Wallingford, Conn. in 16 85. In 1708 and in 1709, he was appointed gaugerand packer for the town of Wallingford. These jobs had to do with packing and filling casks. Gauger was only concerned with packing liquids, usually distilled liquor. Packer was responsible for packing solid commodities such as
beef, pork, or fish.
