I am researching the family of James Butler, born 1785 in Iford, Hants, England. His parents were probably John Butler (1761-1829) and Mary Sanders. His siblings were William (1788-1796); Sarah (1792- ); Thomas (1793- ); William (1797- ); Isaac (1799-1859); and Richard (1802- ).
James moved to the Trinity Bay area of Newfoundland and married Mary Bannister of Trinity in 1809. He raised a family of six girls and four boys.
Isaac, a brother, also moved to the Trinity Bay area and, in 1828, married Mary Cook. They had one child, Maria (1830- ) who married John Bannister in 1851.
If you believe that you have a connection with this family I would like to hear from you. I can be reached by email at j-k.butler@sympatico.ca or by mail at the address below.
Other families I am researching are Bailey, Bannister, Carberry, Sheppard, Randell, Russell (all of the Trinity Bay area) and Torraville (of Fogo-Twillingate area).
