The MULLEE farm on Convent Road, Claremorris, County Mayo, has been occupied by this family since about 1770. No record has been found to identify Unknown MULLEE (c.1770). There is, however, evidence that a Thomas MULLEE, born about 1822, married Bridget WALSH. Thomas and Bridget had six children between 1854 and 1866. The descendants of that Thomas describe themselves as "Streamstown MULLEEs." Streamstown lies about two miles along a railroad track northwest of the old MULLEE farm on Convent Road, which is occupied at this time by the writer's first cousin, once removed, Peter Duggan. His mother, Eileen (MULLEE) Duggan, the writer's first cousin, passed away in June 2000. The Streamstown farm is occupied by a Jack MULLEE. Thomas (c.1822), ancestor of this Jack MULLEE, is believed to have been a cousin or brother to Peter MULLEE (c. 1800)the writer's great-grandfather.
Living descendants of Peter (c.1800)include several in Counties Mayo, Galway, and Meath in Ireland and many more in the New York City - Long Island area, New Jersey, Virginia, and Canada. In 1997 the MULLEE Irish Clan Society (MICS) was founded. MICS publishes a newsletter annually just prior to St. Patrick's Day. MICS is open to all MULLEEs and MALLOYs--both names have been found in the same family units. MICS meets at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, Nassau County, NY on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend annually. Visit MICS page at <http://www.clansandnames.org/mullee.shtml>
