My name is Joshua Leonard Robert Butterfield, but not really. I'm proud of my father and his adoptive family. I wear the "BUTTERFIELD" name on my back, but I feel empty without any knowledge of my blood family. Robert and Carolyn Butterfield adopted Jace Leonard in Monroe,GA on May 28 1956. That day and the events leading up to it have been a mystery to both my father and I for years. He was too hard headed to even speak of the adoption. He died 3 years ago from cancer at the ripe old age of 49, not knowing anything other than what was on his "second"birth certificate.
I take great pride in half my Lineage,BROWN and RUCKER on my mothers side,and it would be an honor to find the missing links in my bloodline. Not only would it be an honor, but medically it would help my son and I prevent or prepare for hereditary illness.
I'm not looking to shake up any trees. Although a mutual meeting would be extremely satisfying. I'm just looking for nationality, heritage, and a "real" last name for reference. All animosity died with my father. I can just imagine the circumstances in the fifties that could have brought about his birth and adoption.
Don't get me wrong,I am a Butterfield,but I have Questions that need to be answered. The only "folklore" I have to go by is,Carolyn Butterfield said," I was in Monroe, GA visiting a friend at (an undisclosed) hospital and walked to the nursery. Upon arriving I seen a child in a secluded crib and asked what was wrong with him. The nurse said he was sick and the ninth child the mother had given birth to. So Robert and I adopted him."
