The Butlers, Heathers, Jacksons & Lancasters of Tasmania

Updated January 28, 2002

About Our Family Research

The Heathers orginated in Tasmania in 1842, with the arrival of James Heather (convict transport to Port Arthur). He was released in 1853 and the family commenced from about that point onwards in the Southport area of Southern Tasmania. The Lancasters and Heathers joined forces circa 1900.
The Butlers took up residence in the Fingal, Cornwall, St Marys region of Tasmania and we are fairly certain of them back to circa 1900 as well. The Jacksons joined the Butlers around 1920ish but we do know of them back to about 1864.

If you have any information regarding the four families, I would love to hear from you.

Phil Butler
