Staton/Staten Family Lines

About Our Family Research


I am seeking information on Staton family from Rutherford Co. NC. Benjamin first appear in Rutherford Co. NC in the 1800 census. He married Mary Wood on 01-21-1785 in Rockbridge Co. VA. He had 3 known daughters, Mary, Jennie and Nancy, and 8 known sons, Samuel Gordon, John Walter, William, Reuben, Anderson, Andrew, John and Eli. Reuben is from my line.

Reuben married Catherine Laughter, daughter of Wiley Laughter and Ann Shelton, on 07-23-1824 in Rutherford County NC. Catherine died February of 1850. Reuben then married Sarah and moved to Whitfield County GA around 1856. The last name was changed to Staten. Reuben's children are: Samuel, Catharine, Wiley Benjamin, Salina, Armina, Falby, Mary, Martha, Matilda and Adaline.

John Jones Kilpatrick, son of William Wilson Kilpatrick and Susie Jones, married Catharine Staton on March 31, 1851 in Rutherford Co.NC. Jones appeared in Whitfield Co. GA in l860.
Known children are: Martha L.(1854), Jos A.(1855) and William
T.(1859).

Seeking info on Robert Staten who lived in Texas from 1905 probably thru 1975. His father was Dock Walton/Walter Staten and mother was Lily Mae Hubbard. Robert had one known sister Cora Lee Staten and brother Barney. He had step-brothers James and Jessie Hubbard living in Texas in 1930.
