Based on Oral Tradition passed down, the Cain's posted on this site originated from Scotland. The last name was changed from MacCainsh, a sept of Clan MacInnes. Our Ancestor came over from Scotland in the mid-1700s while fleeing the law for the murder of a tax-colector with a pitchfork.
