From birth, death, and marriage records in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland, I have accumulated information on the families of Cain, Edmonds, Fields, Hill, and Johnson. Other surnames of genealogical importance are Whitaker, Wade, Tillery, Vaughn, and White. Many cousins reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland and New York.

Family members, especially the Fields, for many years that include the 1800s considered education to be an achievement priority and many of them excelled in the education and healthcare. Some being firsts in their endeavors. The new generation, in the 1970s through the early 2000s are following similarly in some of the same and in new professional paths: teachers, professors, computer engineers, business entrepreneurs, social workers, medical professionals, military officers, federal and state government employees, etc.
