changed name from Gebhardt to Capehart

Jack, I noticed that on your family tree you have Phillip Capehart and Mary Jane Windon as married 14 July 1796 in Mason County Virginia. I have a record of Philip Capehart and Jenny Windon married 14 July 1796 in Bath County, Virginia.
Philip Capehart is also listed in the 1800 tax list for Bath County, Virginia. I have also found the following record from the book "Wills and Inventories of Bath County, Virginia 1791-1842".
Inventory-Samuel Swearingen Submitted June 2, 1802 by Jesse Rose, James Windon and Philip Geaphart
1 horse, 3 wheels, 1 bed and other furniture, kitchen and household utensils, 4 books.
Philip must have moved to Mason County sometime between 1802 and
1810.

Thanks, Joe Gabehart

Jack,
I came across your family tree several weeks ago. My Gr-Gr-Gr-Gr-Grandfather was John Gebhart Jr. I have been working with Cathy Gabehart Duke on our family history. Cathy forwarded an e-mail that you had sent to her. I thought I would share with you some interesting data.
John Gebhart (Gebhardt) Sr. and his family moved from Pennsylvania to Georgetown, Maryland about 1768. John Gebhart Sr. and John Jr. were both members of the Maryland Militia. John Gebhart Jr. served as a drummer and was wounded at the battle of Germantown. There is a pension record available from the National Archives. The Gebharts later moved to Augusta County, Virginia. John Gebhart Jr. lived in Rockingham and Bath Counties, Virginia. His first marriage was to Rachel Allen on Sept. 29,1786 in Rockingham County. His second marriage was to Phebe Vansickle in 1816. They were married at or near Point Pleasant in Mason County, Virginia. John Gebhart Jr. died in Ohio in 1845. Philip Capehart was in all these places. I am convinced that he was a part of this Gebhardt family.

Hope to hear from you soon.
