Ebenezer Speakman (b. March 13, 1758, d. 1827)

Ebenezer Speakman (son of Joshua Speakman and Ann Miller) was born March 13, 1758 in London Grove,Chester Co.,PA., and died 1827 in Vinton County, Ohio. He married Elizabeth Cox on February 20, 1783 in Londongrove,PA..

Notes for Ebenezer Speakman:
Ebenezer was born n London Grove, Chester Co., Pa. During Ebenezer's lifetime,
the Revolutionary War was fought and the Constitution was adopted. Washington,
Jefferson, and Franklin were contemporaries in Philadelphia, thirty-three miles
away. Both were living in Springfield Twp., Ross Co., Ohio 1820. Elizabeth was
80 years old when she died. Ebenezer moved his family from Pa. to Bedford Co.,
Virginia and in 1817 to Ross County, Ohio. Many of the early Speakmans are
buried in Pike Run Cemetery in Ross County. Speakmans were originally Quakers.
NOTE FROM BOB SPEAKMAN: This spring I am going to Jackson Co., and see Donald
Speakman, R#1, (Sour Run Cnty #28 Rd) Ray, Oh. 45671, and look up the old "James
Speakman" farm. Then I will go to Pike Run to visit the Speakman Cem., and see
the grave of "G,G,G, Grandmother Elizabeth Speakman (wife of Ebenezer Speakman).
She was born prior to the "Revolutionary War." Nearby, is her son's home
(oldest house in Vinton Co., built around 160 years ago, but still a pretty
lttle farmhouse. Elizabeth lived here the last years of her life.
