John Miller was born Abt. 1665 in Moate,Ireland, and died Abt. 1714. He married Mary Agnew.

John miller was a fairly wealthy man. John Miller had two brothers named Gayen
Miller and James Miller. The land on which the Miller family settled is between
Chatham where the Speakman family settled and Deleware. New Castle County is a
county in Deleware.
John Miller died testate leaving his property 1/3 real and personal extate to
his wife Mary; to son Joseph the plantation, John Miller lived on (300 Acres);
to son James 300 acres on the south side of the home plantation; to son William
400 acres of land with mill; to daughters, Elizabeth, Susanna, Elinor, Martha,
and Sarah $20 each when 16. Executors to his will were his wife Mary and son

"JOHN Miller, owned 1,013 acrs which extended from the middle line to
London Grove Twp. on the west, and from Toughkenamon Hill to New Garden Meeting
House. He lived on White Clay Creek, on or near the site of Avondale, and built
a grist mill - the first in the region - which did the grinding for the
inhabitants many miles around, even, it is said, as far as Lancaster. New
Garden Meeting was held at his house as early as 1712. He also owned a smaller
tract of land, No. 15, the greater part of which extended into New Castle Co.
He was appointed a representative to the Provincial Assembley in 1714, but died
the same year."
