Eliza A. Spencer (b. August 06, 1865, d. date unknown)

Eliza A. Spencer (daughter of James Dole Jr. and Louise Spencer) was born August 06, 1865 in Ross County, Ohio, and died date unknown. She married (1) Duncan Henry Doles on Abt. 1882, son of James Dole Jr. and Eliza Swackhammer. She married (2) William Salts Jr. on June 26, 1893, son of William Salts and Mariah Matheny. She married (3) Simeon Sim Ritchey on 1906 in Joplin, Missouri, son of James Jr. Ritchey and Nathenia Ann Whitlock.

Notes for Eliza A. Spencer:
Eliza, whose mother was Louise Spencer, was probably an illegitimate child. She is first found in the 1870 Census at age 5 living in the household of her mother with siblings Josephas, 11, Matilda, 7, and Martha E., 3. In the 1880 Census, she is found in the household of Minerva Swackhammer as a "domestic servant". Her father, James Doles, Jr., was by now dead. Eliza's obituary said that she was the daughter of James Doles, Jr. and Minerva Spencer. It is believed that the person giving the information erroneously thought Minerva Doles Swackhammer was her mother, thus the "Minerva" instead of Louisa. It was quite common knowledge in the family that she was James' daughter. Later in life, on a jaunt out west, she married Sim Ritchey in 1906 and he died in 1915. She had two children from the marriage to her half-brother, Duncan Henry Doles, and another child, Oscar Saltz, through her marriage to William Saltz.
