About Our Family Research


In 1840, Abraham Lincoln moved to Springfield, Illinois; so did Daniel Barnes and his father Gilbert Barnes. Two years later the Barnes' relocated to nearby Taylorville where they and, later, Daniel's sons became prosperous merchants.

Below are some modern photos of their buildings, across the street on the courthouse square.
