I am looking for any genealogy information on my Father's side of the family.
My Dad was Leon Faltine. He was born in Lancaster, Pa. on October 26, 1916 and remained a Lancaster resident all of his life.
On July 2, 1937 he married Anne Catherine Love, a recent graduate of St. Joseph's Nursing School. She was originally from Bellefonte, Pa.
In February of 1941 he joined the Lancaster City Fire Department. He served most of his time at Engine House No. 1 on West King St. but before he retired in 1966 he was also stationed at the New Holland Avenue fire house and at No. 5 on North Duke Street.
His parents were Benedict ("Ben") August Faltine, b. 6-15-1896 in Lancaster, the son of August Faltine and Monica Reinhold Faltine who had immigrated to Lancaster in the late 1880's and Ida Ortzman b. 1898 in Lancaster. She was the daughter of Hattie Strauss Ortzman and Isaac Ortzman.
For the most part the Faltines and the Reinholds lived on East Fulton or East Walnut Street, usually the 500 - 700 blocks. The Reinhold name is inscribed on a building at the corner of Walnut and Franklin, where I believe they operated a store. When I was growing up, it was called the Franklin Cafe. Most of the Faltine family is buried at St. Anthony's Cemetery.
The Ortzman and Strauss families lived on Woodward Street where my great great grandmother Strauss operated a small store. She, her husband, Lehman Strauss, their daughter Hattie Ortzman and Hattie's son Lehman Ortzman are buried at Shaarai Shomayim cemetery.
