The Wood family research has taken us back to Indian Territory before Oklahoma became a State.
Early census information shows the Wood's in Choctaw County from about 1880 to current day.
Woodstown was run by the Wood brothers, who reportedly came from Tennessee, relocated to Texas then on into Oklahoma.
The story or legend is that William, Robert, James and John came from Tennessee to the Oklahoma Indian Territory, some married Choctaw Women and gained Indian rights to land in the Choctaw area. The Pre civil war cemetery, Goodwater, located in Choctaw County has the remains of several Wood family members.
