Although there are many surnames in my heritage, for now I will be concentrating of the Bequeath lineage. The goal is to find as many Bequeaths and descendants as possible. Hopefully, we will be able to put all the pieces together and discover, when our ancestors came to America, from what country and where they settled. Presently, the earliest information we have goes to the early 1800's. The location is in and around Bedford, Pennsylvania.
A family line spelled Bequeaith seems to have originated in Illinois that we would like to tie into our missing John Bequeath. Help us if you can.
If you are descended from a Hann, Mellott, Whitfield, Hixson, Clark, Truxell, Ensley, Conner, Zimmerman, and many others, with a Bequeath in your ancestry and roots to the Bedford County, Pennsylvania area, you might our distant cousin.
An assumption has been made from the very start that has absolutely no basis in fact. Everyone is invited to help us prove or disprove this theory. We have assumed (for easier record keeping) that Samuel Bequeath, b. in Germany is the father of John, Mary, Eva, Rebecca, William D., Salome & Samuel, (Jr?). Again, there is nothing that we know of to substantiate this theory. We need your input and any family lore, documents, pictures, etc. to help prove our case. The only thing we have to this date that lends any credence to this theory is a small piece of paper, written by my grandmother, that lists their names and what appears to be a spouse.
We strive for perfection, but as humans, make mistakes. Please, if there are mistakes on what is published, let me know. Additions are welcomed. Questions, we'll try to answer. This is a group effort and what might not be accomplished alone, can be with the help of friends and family, distant and far!
