My youngest kid started asking me, I don't look like a pure Filipino because I have some Caucasian attributes. This led to a discussion about my great grandfather, George Weedon.
Based on family accounts:
George Weedon was from England. He wanted to be a soldier but his parents wouldn't allow him since a brother already died in a war.
He left England for the United States and enlisted himself in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the military contingent of Gen. Arthur McArthur in the Philippines during the Spanish American War.
While in the Philippines he met and Married Maria Tanas, a Filipina. They had several daughters(Romana, Florentina, Dolores and Rosario) and 2 sons(Maurice and Thomas).
Rosario, one of his daughters, was married to Joaquin Orbigoso and had 2 sons(Robert and Raymond) and a daughter(Evelyn).
During World War II, George was one of the aides to Gen. Wainwright, who surrenderd the USAFE forces to the Japanese Imperial Army in Bataan and Corregidor.
George was one of the survivors of the now infamous Death March, but harsh conditions during captivity made him sick(Intestinal Cancer). He passed away just after the war.
Evelyn, Rosario's only Daughter, was married to Dr. Benjamin Castillo MD. They have 2 sons(David and myself, Richard), 2 daughters(Eleonor and Bernadette).
