About Our Family Research

William Monroe Pullen was the 4th of 14 children, born on November 18, 1858 in Boone County, Indiana. His father was James Monroe Onadison Pullen and his Mother was Millie M. (Aldridge) Pullen. James Pullen was born in Indiana, of Dutch decent, on September 7, 1833. He was a young soldier in the Civil War and was taken prinoner. He was soon released and went back to his homestead by foot. He later passed away on December 29th, 1905 at the age of 72. His wife (Millie) died on June 19, 1909 at the age of 71.They were both buried at Blair, Nebraska in Washington County. William Monroe Pullen and wife Pearl (Smith) Pullen had 10 children, raising 7 as three died as infants. He was an early pioneer in Western Nebraska. At the age of 72, on September 30, 1930 he suffered a series of strokes and passed away. Pearl was 5'1" with beautiful red hair. At the age of 11, her and her parents from Illinois, crossed the plain in a covered wagon into Western Nebraska. She suffered a stroke which left her partially paralized. Pearl survived 8 more years to enjoy her life before another stroke ended her life of 61 years on August 16, 1936. This is just a few of the family members. The study of my ancestors have taken me all the way back to the 1600's with the Bartholomew family. They were decendants of William of Ipswich who arrived in New England in 1634 and settled in Ipswich, Connecticut in 1635.
