I have been able to find only as far back as my Great Grandfather Thomas Caswell,bn abt 1834 Ky, no county listed. I first found Thomas in the 1850 Illinois Macoupin,Co census, there was also an Andrew Caswell whom i believe is his brother living in the same house.in the 1860 census was a William i believe to be Thomas's father, unable to prove it yet, living in the home of John and Nancy Sullivan. Nancy Caswell Sullivan being the daughter of William Caswell.William was last found in Girard, north Otter, Girard po box address 1872,nothing after that.Thomas was next in the 1860 Menard Co census married to Mary Jane Watkins, and having 6 children the last born 1868.nothing on Thomas after that. Mary was in the 1870, 1880 census then nothing more on her. I have traced my Ggrandmother Mary Jane (nick name Polly) (Watkins) Caswell from her birth 1832 Cass County Illinois.and her family all the way back to Wales 1707. I lost Mary after the 1880 census. Thomas & Mary have a head stone in the Hash family cemetery,Menard County Illinois, all it says is IN MEMORY OF MOTHER & FATHER and there names.I have as of yet found anything saying they are actually buried there. The farm that the cemetery is on belonged to my grandmothers (Hash) family. Thomas & mary had 6 children all born in Menard Co,Petersburg. all but one (Nancy Jane Bond Caswell) maried had children & died in Menard or Cass Co, Illinois.Nancy married and had a couply of children in Menard, she had children in Kn,Ok & Tx, then setteled in Tx where she died.
