The majority of the research contained herein was done by Judge James M. Carter. Continuing on where Judge Carter left off I am still gathering the history of James Case, Thomas Sawyers, John Thompson, and George W. Patry and Frank Piskular. This is still a work in progress as new information is obtained and old information corrected. The beginning years of the Sawyers family when they first arrived in the United States has been very difficult with the changing of their name from Sayre, Sayers and Sawyer to Sawyers by adding an 's' to the end of the name. As for James Case I have not been able to find any records prior to James Case being born in Kentucky around about 1820. The Patry side of the family also changed their name several times from Patry to Patrie depending on what they were signing. My mother Katherine Patry signed her College transcripts as Katherine Patrie but her marriage certificate as Katherine Patry. It was equally difficult to determine what her mothers maiden name was. I have found the spelling on several documents quite different. Piskula, and Piskular and several other spellings. I have finally found what I believe to be the correct spelling that being Piskular.
