The Cawiezell and Turgeon families of Iowa and Illinois

Updated August 16, 2002

About Our Family Research

I am searching for the past generations of Thomas Howard who lived in Sampson County, North Carolina. It is my understanding that he came from Wales. One of his sons was Martin Brough Howard.

I am also looking for any information on a Joseph Turgeon who married Sophia Doneldson. The both originated from Quebec, French, Canada and migrated eventually to Chicago, IL. Joseph was killed in 1891 when a train ran over his legs and cut them off. He bleed to death before any help could come. Sophia remained in the area and was a button maker with her 3 children, Louise, George and Robert (my grandfather). I have death certificates on both of them but they do not give their parents names or cities of birth. Supposedly Joseph father was a Captain and sailed from Quebec to France.

Any help would be appreciated.
