I'm just starting on this work. My Aunt Edie (mom's side) has done this for years, so I'll get a lot from her to add. On my father's side, it is notable that his elder brother Leroy and sister Helen were born under the name of Stratton. They had the same parents, but because their father was "on the lam" (the story goes something like he was Al Capone's driver, but is unsubstantiated at this time), he was using the name Stratton during the years of their births. I will eventually add all of their children and grandchildren under stratton also. But they are, in reality, Caylors.
We have also found that a branch of the family ended up around Mobile, Alabama, but as yet, I don't have that information either. Only that the Robert E. Caylor Building at the Marine Science Research lab in Ocean Springs, MS was named after him. We ended up here quite by co-incidence. My mother and father met at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. And both were quite happy to settle here in this warm climate as they came from Missouri and Connecticut.
