Arnold Winkelried Walliker (son of Jacob Walliker and Anna Maria Laufenbeck) was born September 25, 1855 in Muscatine, Muscatine Co, Iowa, and died January 13, 1944 in Clinton, Clinton County, Iowa. He married Mary Jane Graves on December 13, 1877 in Toulon, IL, daughter of Joseph Graves and Mary Jane Radcliffe.

Obituary of Arnold Winkelried Walliker

Arnold W. Walliker, 88, died this morning at 2 o'clock in the famly home at 753 Seventh Avenue, south, after suffering a stroke Tuesday afternoon. The body reposes in the famiy home and funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bragonier-Fay funeral chapel. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Arnold W. Walliker was born September 25, 1855 in Muscatine. He moved to Clinton at the age of three years and his father had the distinction of erecting the thrid frame building in the city. It stood on the recent site of the Revere Hotel. Later the family moved to Peoria County, Illinos to engage in farming. In 1988 he was united in marriage with Mary Jane Graves who preceded her husband in death, with two children, Ethelyn and Lillian. In 1878 the couple returned to Clinton where Mr. Walliker engaged in law practice with his brothers Fred and Jacob. The last twenty years of his practice he was in business alone retiring at the age of 80. Mr. Walliker served as Mayor of the city of Clinton in 1886. he was a member of Lincoln lodge, 100F. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Clyde Jarnagin, Mendota, Illinois, Arnold P. Walliker, Davenport and Mrs. Herbert P. Mathew, Clinton and a brother William of Peoria. Three grandchildren, Mrs. Vern Chance, Davenport; Ward Jarnagin, U.S. Navy; Mrs. Merl Meyer, Mendota and one great grand-child, Judith Ann Mayer also survive. Final rites for A. W. Walliker were solemized this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Bragonier-Fay funeral chapel by the Rev. Maurice E. Lesher. Mrs. W. K. Meeker played three violin selections, "Traumero" by Shuman; "Meditation" by Massanet and "Ave Maria" by Gounod. Miss Effie Grumstrup accompanied her at an organ. Burial was in Sprindale cemetery and pallbearers were Dr. Wilbur Walliker, Jasper Morgan, W. L. Meeker, Alvin Hansen, Arthur Bather and Carl Ahrens. Those from out of the city who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jarnigan and Mrs. Merl Mayer, Mendota, IL; Mr. and mrs. Arnold Walliker Jr., and Mrs. L. Willey, Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Knack, Dixon, IL; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bristle, Robert Mathew, Sr., Mr. and mrs. Wallace Mathew and family , Mr. and Mrs. Ellery Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Humphrey, all of Morrison, Illinois.
