George W. Salyers (son of Isaac Salyers and Mary "Polly" Meyers) was born October 25, 1818 in Fayette County, Kentucky, and died January 22, 1886 in Bolivar Missouri. He married (1) Mary Ann Francis Bells on April 01, 1841. He married (2) Sarah Granville Spoonamore on April 15, 1866 in Grant, KY, daughter of William Sanford Spoonmore and Almira Angeline Smith.

George Salyers was a "wool carder". Salyers is from the french "Salye". George ran mills often in his life and he served in the Civil War. He was in Company B, 18th Kentucky Infantry, Trans Co, F 15th Veteran Reserve Corp. he was in the nion Army (Grant's Army" and was honorably discharged February 7, 1965. He was a musician or drummer.

In the fall of 1870 they left Lexington, Kentucky to Bates County, Missouri. they bought a farm and moved to Henry, MO and then to Bolivar where he died. When they moved to Missouri, he ran a general store there in Bolivar.
