Melvin Berry Martin b. 1869, was my great Grandfather. He was born in LaVerne, Crenshaw Co., Alabama to Neil Martin and Martha Blackmon. Neil Martin's first name was probably Cornelius.
Melvin Berry Martin married in 1890 in Crenshaw Co. AL to Anna Blackmon, who I believe to be the daughter of James Blackmon and Vashti Martin who were found in the 1870 and 1880 Crenshaw Co. AL censuses. After their marriage, Berry and Annie had four sons, William b. 1891, Frank Lester b.1893, Dee Cylvester b.1895, and Clifford b. abt 1898. Annie died soon after Clifford's birth.
