In many respects, my family history is similar to the circumstances and experiences of most Chinese-American immigrant families who started families after the end of World War II. Both sides of my family had a family laundry and shirt-pressing business and raised several children in the New York City area, emphasizing the value of an education for their future success. My parents, aunts and uncles were almost all American-born and my cousins and I are second-generation Chinese American citizens whose immersion in our heritage is not very strong, being diluted with our enculturation into American culture.
No reunions, as of yet.
Family news? My cousin's grandfather (not mine) passed away recently. Only two cousins are left who are not currently in college or graduated from college. My grandparents have been retired for some time now and like to keep active when they can.
