Childs Family History

Updated September 6, 2002

About Our Family Research

The earliest definite ancester I can located is Hezekiah Childs or Chiles born about 1760 in Virginia. He fought in the rev. war in a NC regiment. About 1815 he moved to Tenn. with one of his sons, Thomas, born in 1760. He died in about 1830. Thomas bought some land in north Mississippi and gave it to three children including Nacy Childs born in 1823. He was killed in the civil war in the battle of Perryville. One of Nacy's sons another Hezekiah born in 1848 may have also fought in the civil war and eventually moved his family from Miss. to Texas where he had two sons, H.C. and James W. Around 1900 they moved to Oklahoma around the Norman area. H.C. went to medical school at Tulane and started a practice in Tulsa along with his brother and eventually his son Darwin. Hezekiah, H.C. and Darwin are all buried in Tulsa.
