PITT FAMILY

Updated March 7, 2009

About Our Family Research

You are invited to a reunion of descendants of Mary and Robert Pitt, to be held at "Pitt House", Blue Mountains Grammar School in Wentworth falls, NSW, Australia on Saturday 3 October 2009. If you are interested, please contact me at mary_matcham_pitt@yahoo.com, or by mail to:
Salli Chmura,
6 Wood Place,
Chifley, ACT 2606, Australia.

Mary Pitt (nee Matcham) arrived in Australia fom England in December 1801 on the ship the "Canada". Five of Mary's children accompanied her - Susannah, Lucy, Thomas, Jemima and Hester.

Mary's husband, Robert, had died in 1787 and left her penniless, so on the advice of her cousin and benefactor George Matcham, Mary decided to take her family to Australia.

Mary and Robert's children married into the Faithfull, Wood, Laycock, Forrest, Jenkins and Wilshire families, and there are now six generations of Australian born descendants of Mary Matcham and Robert Pitt.
