I am one of 8 children of Donald John Stoops and Nancy Patten Monk Stoops. As my mother's side of the family has been fairly extensively researched by our maternal grandfather, Rodney Elijah Monk, I decided to focus on finding how the Stoops family as I know it developed in the USA.
I have seen the wonderful work done by Dallas Bogan about the descendants of Christoper Stoops, b. 1612, who arrived in Norfolk VA in 1635. His descendants were in the area of Ohio and Indiana by the late 1800's, and that is where my father's father is from -- northeastern Indiana.
This is a start! Off we go!
