I'm new to geneology, so have limited information and as time allows I hope to be able to expand and fill in some of the blanks.
What got me started was my son's questions about our last name and his grandfather having a very strong resemblance to Prime Minister of Canada; Jean Chretien. My father moved from Ontario (Tiny Township-Simcoe County-Penetanguishine)out to Alberta (Lloydminster)after WWII, where he met my mother. With his side of the family living so far away, we never got to sit at our grandparents side to hear tales of family history. Now my grandparents and father are deceased leaving many questions unanswered.
The internet has given me opportunity to explore a little further into our family history. Most of the information was taken from Family Tree Maker, Geneology.com, The Olive Tree Genealogy, National Archives of Canada, Ontario Genealogical Society Provincial Index, 1851, 1881 and 1891 Census and Tiny Township Simcoe County Marriage Records, St. Anicet Parish Records. Some dates are approximate and others exact, leaving many questions once again.
Needless to say I haven't found out any information as to whether Prime Minister Jean Chretien is related or not, so I have a long way to go yet. I hope to post a picture of my father that many would agree his looks quite similar.
I look forward to adding more information as I hope to learn more in the future. If anyone has someone in their lineage or knows information that could help steer me, I would graciously appreciate your help.
