The following families immigrated to the United States on Charles Christensen's side of the family:
Visker, Hendrick (1852-1934) and Grietje (Flink) (1855-1935) were married in Holland and immigrated to the United States with their 13 children. The promise of opportunity in the United States appealed to the family so much that they left Oude Pekela, Groningen, Holland when Hendrick was 48 years old and Grietje was 45 to start a new life, farming around the Little Rock, Iowa area in Lyons County in 1901.
Boekhout, Pieter (1830 - 19?) and Bowina (Groen) (1835-19?) were married in Holland and immigrated to the United States with their adult children. Their children had family marriage ties with the Visker family in their home town of Oude Pekela, Groningen, Holland. Pieter was 70 years old and Bowina was 65 when they settled around the Little Rock, Iowa area in 1900. They were accompanied with their 5 adult children when they left Holland for the United States.
Pater, Gerrit (1876-1952) and Gerritje (Vlastuin) (1884-1960) were married in Holland in 1905. They immigrated to the United States in 1909 from Oude Pekela, Groningen, Holland with three children. The Pater family settled in Little Rock, Iowa, eventually raising a family of 12 children.
Christensen, Chris (1855-1923) and Hanna (Last name unknown) (1855-1923) were born in Denmark, immigrated to the US prior to 1890 and moved to southwestern Minnesota and northern Iowa area.
Nelson, Alma (1889 - 1954) (Alma Nilsson was the Swedish Family spelling) immigrated with a friend to the United States at 21 years old from the Stockholm, Sweden area in the summer of 1910. She married Michael Christensen in 1914, the son of Chris and Hanna Christensen, settled in Worthington, Minnesota and had 8 children.

Updates to this family tree
If you have any information, corrections or additions to this family tree, please contact me. I will incorporate any new information that I can confirm and then update the family tree periodically.
I will be adding a substantial number of pictures, newspaper clippings and other images in this family tree during the next year. I will keep a high-resolution image on CD ROM for a permanent record for future needs. I will put a lower resolution image on a separate CD and on the web page with this family tree. If you have pictures, articles or other items you would like me to add to this family tree, please contact me. We can make arrangements to have the photographs or other items scanned and the original item returned to you.
