Charles Marris born abt 1811 in Great Coates, Lincolnshire, England and wife Ann born abt1806 in England were the parents of: Ann Philadelphia B.abt 1829, William B. abt 1827 D.14 Oct. 1827, Maria B. abt 1831, George B. abt 1833 D.1896 in MI USA, William B. abt 1836, and Charles B. abt 1839. George was my grandfather. He married Jemima Addy dau of John and Sarah Addy. Sarah Addy died on the Ship Joseph Walker coming to America in 1853, with Jemima and Sarah her daughters. Jemima married George Marris in Ohio. George and Jemima are buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview, MI. The story that I got was that George and Jemima met on the Ship Joseph Walker coming to America. I have a manifest of passengers list and George Marris is not on this. Jemima, her sister Sarah and her mother Sarah are on it and it states that Sarah, the mother age 50,died on the ship, of consumption. Their destination was Cleveland, OH. Why? Was Jemima's father John there? How did he get there? When? Why Cleveland? Why did George come to America? How? When? Did he come alone or with other family members? Again, why Cleveland? I would so appreciate any information, any pictures and I would love to see their ticket for the ship ride over. There isn't much family to ask, at least not family I know. Charles Marris-Morris B.1874, one of George and Jemima's 11 children, three of which died very young, was my father. I have found a cousin but she doesn't remember much about the family any longer. She is in her 90's. Also, I would like to find out anything I can on Fred A. Davis B. 18 Feb. 1859, some place in NY. He married Roxa S.Scott B. 23 Mar. 1866 in Smithfield, Bradford Co. PA. They were married in PA. Their children were; Walter S. B 1866 D 1910, Mary A. B 1890 and married a Warren Scouten in 1906 in Eckelson ND.,Daniel W. B 1893 D 1908, Wilmer F. B 1896 D 1975 in FL., Alice P. B 1898 D 1953 in MI (my grandmother) and Monroe B 1900 D 1901 and is buried in Ravenna, Muskegon Co. MI. The story I got from my mother about this family is that, Aunt Mary came home for her mother's funeral(Roxa) and when it was over Mary went back to ND and no one ever heard from her again. I can't imagine what caused this total break, but something did. My mother said she didn't know why Aunt Mary had nothing more to do with them. Mary had two children; Burton B 1908 and Rose B 1909. I have what I believe to be their senior in high school pictures. I would appreciate anything on either of these families.
