My father was an orphan from Utica New York. His entire family was from Onieda County. When the orphanage burned down they sent my father To Albany never to return, except to visit his family.
Research has concluded that he had family history back to Ireland.
Found that his greatgrandmother was killed by a train and buried in Onieda Co. Her papertrail told the story of her life in the poorhouse and of the children she raised on farms as boarders.
Documented poorhouse records held by the State of New York. Newspapers and other records solved all there is to know about this Family.
