| About Our Family Research |
|
I have undertaken the research of the life-history and genealogy of Colonel Archibald Christie, Royal Flying Corps 1914-1917, to expound upon an, hitherto, obscure branch of my family tree, having its history based in the United Kingdom.
Begun in January 2002, this project is still in its infancy, and the information compiled todate, and presented on this website, is scant and, as yet, unverified. Being my first effort at genealogical research, the unfolding Family Tree is a "Work In Progress", prepared with familial love and journalistic tenacity. Any reference to information contained herein, should, therefore, be made with due consideration.
Since my childhood (b.1949), the oral tradition, of my family, had placed me as a great-niece of this gentleman. Infamous though his role in history may have been, and famous the various participants thereof, the ancestors and immediate family members of Colonel Archibald Christie, for myself, of course, are of the greatest personal interest.
Any contribution to this database, no matter how trivial or insignificant it may seem, will be greatly appreciated and extremely helpful. Your anonymity and privacy will be respected and safeguarded. Should you wish to share your information, whether personal anecdote or historical fact, thus increasing my familial knowledge regarding Colonel Archibald Christie, kindly send it, by email, to my attention, at the following address: yreid@rogers.com
With research being initiated from across the Atlantic, in Canada, this fledgling project has been disadvantaged from its conception, making the undertaking challenging and the progress interminably slow.
Nonetheless, for the relentless detective, the results are truly rewarding! A genealogical treasure chest!
Sincerely, Yvonne Janette Christie

The dashing young Officer, Royal Field Artillery, later flying ace, war hero, Royal Flying Corps. Meeting Miss Agatha Miller, Oct. 1912, at a grand ball, he quickly added her to his other life-long loves: motorcyles, aeroplanes, and golf. On Dec. 24, 1914, at the Parish Church of the Emmanuel, Clifton, Bristol, they were wed, the day before he was sent to the Front. On Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 1918, WW1 ended, after which he accepted a position with the Ministry of Aviation, London.
