Hiya, I'm a third gen american near as I can tell and discovered that my father's family talked very little about their history. I have a few ideas why and would like to use this page to help the dispersed family of Cinocca / Cinocco to learn who we are and more about where we came from.
Near as I can guess, I believe that there is around 200-250 members of this family group in the US today. Looking in an Italian Internet phone book, I located three people with the Cinocca surname in the region (Molise)which I believe the family originated from. Seeing as how I don't speak, read or write Italian, I haven't communicated with any of them yet.
I'll fill out everything that I have on the family which is fairly descriptive to a point and I have a chart suppied by one of the Cinocca's in OK.
If you spot something that doesn't match with records or recollections that you have, I'd be happy to discuss amending the page accordingly. I know that several of the dates I have are obviously wrong - so please be patient.
A lot of source material came from my father who had asked for information from his mother. I have several letters of her's that give a lot of the initial info I started with. After that, several other members of the family helped with information they gathered. Then I found out about the Oklahoma link - turns out the Cinocca's, they're family! My great grandfather, Nicholas apparently changed the spelling of his last name to end with an 'O' and may have had reasons for not keeping in touch with the family. His father, Michele, is buried in Krebs,OK with a number of other Cinocca's. I have a chart sent to me by Edith Cinocca who was married to a cousin of my ggf.
That's what I got so far, add what you can. Nico 3/20/2001
